A Donegal schoolteacher is running a fundraiser (#pledge30) for Lough Swilly RNLI – and she’s hoping to get one-hundred businesses to donate €30 towards the incredible organisation.
Maggie Green, is asking 100 businesses (or more if I can) to pledge €30 (or more if they can!) to Lough Swilly RNLI within 30 days.
Lough Swilly RNLI started trials in 1986 so they have been running for 30 years now so Maggie is hoping to get €30 from 100 businesses/people in 30 days (or more if possible!!)
Her partner Danny McFadden has just returned from Antarctica and he volunteers with Lough Swilly RNLI so it is a very personal cause for Maggie.
Maggie told Donegal Daily, “I am very proud of Danny for being a volunteer with the RNLI.
“Every time his pager goes off I feel so proud of him for what he is doing to help others but I also feel scared for him until he walks back through the door as I know the gravity of the situation he is going into.
“The women and men who volunteer for the RNLI are some of the bravest souls I know and they risk so much to save the lives of others.
“I would really like to raise as much as possible for Lough Swilly RNLI and I am hoping that there will be lots of support out there for this very worthy cause.”
