Donegal manager Rory Gallagher has admitted he’d rather face Antrim in the Ulster SFC quarter-final, than his native county of Fermanagh.
Antrim play Fermanagh in the Ulster SFC Preliminary round next weekend, and the winners will face Donegal.
Speaking at the launch of The Donegal GAA Championships, which are sponsored by Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure, Gallagher revealed he’d prefer to face the Saffron County.
The launch which was presented by Charlie Collins of Donegal Sport-Hub was attended by representatives of all clubs participating in the Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Hurling Championships.
He spoke to Gallagher at the outset of the launch and asked him who he would prefer to face in the quarter-final.
Gallagher said, “I’d rather face Antrim to be honest, there in a lower division than Fermanagh.
“I know if we got Fermanagh we’d have home advantage, but I prefer to face Antrim in all honesty.”
Gallagher had a decorated career for Fermanagh and was one of the finest players the county ever produced.
So it’s understandable that he would be keen to avoid a meeting with his home county.
