Donegal UFC star Joseph Duffy will return to the Octagon this summer – for the first time since his defeat to Dustin Poirier in January.
Duffy will fight Canadian MMA star Mitch Clarke on July 7th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Duffy’s last outing at that venue ended in defeat after a titanic battle with Poirier.
Duffy lost the decision by unanimous decision in January, he was due to fight Poirier at UFC Dublin in October of last year, but was forced to withdraw after being concussed in sparring.
Duffy’s bout will be on the undercard of UFC Fight Night: dos Anjos vs. Alvarez (UFC Fight Night 90), which takes place during International Fight Week as part of the lead up into the historic UFC 200.
So far, the only other fight announced for the card is also in Duffy’s division; is the lightweight title fight between champion Rafael Dos Anjos and challenger Eddie Alvarez.
Duffy, from Meenbannad, Burtonport will be hoping to kick-start his UFC career with a victory against the teak-tough Canadian Mitch Clarke.
Duffy is the only Irishman to beat Conor McGregor and his stock is continuing to rise.
Duffy who is based at the world famous Tri-Star Gym in Montreal, is currently back in Donegal for the wedding of close friend and property tycoon Christopher O’Donnell.
