A 22-year-old actress who started her career at a Co Donegal drama club has won a role in the new Sky 1 thriller The Five.
Producers were so impressed with her talents that they wrote the part of her character Sasha especially for Saoirse Jackson.
Saoirse divided her childhood between Derry and Greencastle, Co Donegal, where her parents ran a small hotel. She attended the local drama club in Greencastle and also did a lot of acting at secondary school in St Cecelila’s College in Derry.
“I got really lucky on my last year in drama school. I auditioned for an extra part in The Five, just one line really, and I kept getting called back,” she said of her role in the ten-part drama series currently being shown on Sky 1.
Saoirse now lives in London and is already winning rave reviews for her debut theatre performance in Of Mice and Men as it tours the UK with the Birmingham Repetory Centre (pictured below).
