SLIMMING WORLD: It’s hard to believe next week is the first week of May, the end of another long winter and most of us are looking forward to long, balmy summer days or at the very least, warmer rain!
But some of us won’t be looking forward to the summer; for some of us it’s our most miserable time of the year. If you struggle with your weight, the warm summer days that everyone else looks forward to can be absolute hell on earth. Not feeling comfortable or confident enough to remove the winter layers, suffering physically with the heat, the list is endless.
And if you went through this on previous years and promised yourself that this year would be different then you’re going to feel even more despondent.
But, wait a minute, what did you try? That diet that you went on, did it expect you to survive on meagre amounts of food? Did you find that you weren’t able to live a normal life? Or worse still, did it mean that you were surviving on pills, potions or shakes instead of real food? That exercise plan- were you trying to run 10k in the morning, a kettle bells session in the afternoon and a weight training session at night? All unrealistic, all unsustainable, all dangerous and all designed to make you fail!
So why not try something different? A weight loss plan where you’re in control, where you decide what weight you want to be and where you do all that at your own pace in a warm and caring environment by eating real food.
The exercise? Yes, it’s important, but guess what? It will also be when you’re ready and at your own pace. At Slimming World we have almost 50 years of experience in helping our members lose weight, live their lives, reach their targets and more importantly, maintain those targets.
Each and every week we encourage and support members to make long term, sustainable life changes that will help them achieve those dreams. And starting next week, we’ll be writing a fortnightly column, sharing that knowledge and expertise with all of you.
