SPORT: The Republic of Ireland Billiards and Snooker Association are holding a qualifying tournament to select TWO ladies to represent Ireland at the upcoming European Amateur Snooker Championships in Lithuania in June.
In an effort to promote ladies cue sports the association is offering free flights, accommodation and expenses to the qualifiers.
As very few ladies in Ireland play competitive snooker there will be coaching available for all ladies interested prior to the qualifying competition on 8th May at various locations throughout the country as listed below:
- Dublin : Coaching by Michael Judge former professional snooker player and Robert Murphy current European champion
- Cork : Greg Casey has represented Ireland on numerous occasions at European and world competition
- Carlow : PJ Nolan Current Irish National Coach and World Snooker Coach
- Mayo/Galway : Jason Devenney has represented Ireland on numerous occasions at European and world Competitions
- Nenagh: – Brendan O Donoghue current Irish National Champion
- Donegal : Anthony Bonnar former European Champion
Throughout Ireland (other areas) will be made available if required

This qualifying competition will also be used to qualify the best Under 21 girls for the world Under 21 championships in Belgium and also to qualify an Irish ladies team for the Home International Team competition held in Leeds in August between Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
