DONEGAL’S Senior Ladies are through the Lidl National League Division 2 final after a superb win over a tough Cavan team in Beragh, Tyrone, today.
Micheal Naughton’s side saw off a good Cavan by 0-13 to 0-6 to keep their unbeaten record and set up a League final clash with Westmeath who defeated Clare 4-12 to 1-11.
It was a very tight first half in which Cavan missed a penalty and Yvonne McMonagle had what looked like a perfectly good goal disallowed.
However Geraldine McLaughlin was on fire for the Donegal Ladies again today hitting vital scores when their chances came as the Donegal defence held strong when Cavan were in possession.
Elsewhere there were mixed fortunes for the Donegal U16 Ladies panel.
The Development team had a one point victory away to Fermanagh to set up an U16 League final spot, the girls having won all their games this so far.
However the U16 Championship team were on the wrong end of a 8-11 to 6-10 defeat to Derry in Buncrana, the visitor’s Erin Doherty putting in a Player of the Match performance.
Donegal had led 3-06 to 1-06 at the break.
Elsewhere in the same side of the Championship Tyrone – who Donegal defeated in their first game – defeated favourites Armagh 2-12 to 1-07.
The result leaves Armagh and Tyrone on 4 points and Donegal and Derry on 2 points.
