Raphoe Family Resource Centre:
388km/242miles Sponsored Walk
With just over a week before our Coordinator, Tony embarks on the sponsored walk around the 9 Family Resource Centres in Donegal the Family Resource Centre would like to sincerely thank all those who have already sponsored or pledged to sponsor Tony.
Eleven local businesses, two community groups, two local County Councillors, and ninety-five individuals including family, work colleagues, friends and members of the community have between them pledged to sponsor or have sponsored €3,000 and we are very heartened and deeply humbled for all the tremendous support.
The Family Resource Centre will be carrying out a door-to-door collection (permit granted) in the Raphoe area from Thursday 28th-Saturday 30th April so if you have not yet sponsored Tony this will be a great opportunity to do so.

Date for your diary
The Family Resource Centre will this year again host ASIST training on Wednesday 4th & Thursday 5th May. ASIST is suitable for all kinds of caregivers-volunteers, people responding to family, friends and co-workers and professionals. The 2-day workshop trains participants to reduce the immediate risk of suicide and increase the support for a person at risk. It provides opportunities to learn what a person at risk may need from others in order to keep safe and get more help. This is an updated ASIST and those who have completed the training 2 or more years ago are encouraged to attend again. Contact the Family Resource Centre on 074-9145796 or 087-3641503 to book a place or Sarah Meehan, ASIST Coordinator for Donegal on 071-9852000/086-0421040 or sarahm.meehan@hse.ie

• Of limited means or resources; and
• Living alone, living with another person who meets the eligibility criteria; and
• Resides within geographical area of the relevant registered organisation; and

Raphoe Boxing Club
On Saturday last 28 of the Raphoe Club’s under-age boxers travelled to the Twin-Towns Boxing Club in Ballybofey to take part in a junior boxing tournament. All the young boxers gave a good account of themselves and all received medals. Well done to all of them.
On Saturday night club boxers Liam McMonagle and Oran Devine represented Donegal v’s Ballymena at a major tournament in the Leighmore House Hotel, Ballymena. Liam turned in a great display of ring-craft when he outpointed Antrim hot-shot Roger Hamill. Oran gave a very gutsy performance only to narrowly lose out to Ryan Bustard. The Donegal team went down six bouts to five bouts.
Dennis Lafferty and Orin McDermott will be in action at a major tournament in the Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny when Donegal will face the Boston Boxing Academy U.S.A. Good luck to both boxers from everyone at the Raphoe Club.
