Donegal and especially Inishowen is already going intergalactic with the arrival of the Star Wars crew this week.
But the good folk at Farren’s Bar at Malin Head certain are feeling the force already.
An impressive new mural of Yoda, created by UV Arts, has been unveiled on the exterior wall of the famous pub.
It promises to catch the eye of the Star Wars crew who are due to film around the area between May 15th and 17th next.
Hugh Farren, Owner of Farren’s, told the Irish Mirror that they were hoping the arrival of the Hollywood bandwagon would put Ireland’s most northerly area on the map.
“Myself and my friend Donal O’Doherty were hoping to do something on one of the walls and with Star Wars arriving we thought it would be a good idea.
“Donal picked the Yoda picture and thought it would look good on the wall.”
Mr Farren said there had been no sign of the cast and crew of the blockbuster series yet, but they’re expected to arrive in the next couple of weeks.
He added: “I don’t think any of the people working on the film have arrived yet.
“There was a notification in one of the local papers that Donegal County Council was closing the roads out to where they were believed to be filming.
“But, nobody knows of any scheduled work that is due to be carried out by the council, so we believe it’s for the filming.”
And Mr Farren thinks the shooting will do wonders for the area.
“With all the houses being booked out in the area there’s going to be a lot of people around.
“The hype of everyone talking about Star Wars is puting Malin Head in the national papers and on the news, it’s great for the area and for Donegal.”
