WORLD NEWS: Singer Prince has died, according to reports this evening.

The 57-year-old singer’s body was discovered at his home in Minnesota.

Prince Rogers Nelson was brought to hospital following a battle with flu.

The singer had a medical emergency on April 15 which forced his private jet to make an emergency landing in Illinois, according to TMZ, but he appeared at a concert the next day to tell fans he was feeling okay.

The seven-time Grammy winner performed at the Super Bowl in 2007.

He also sold more than 100 million records during his career. He also won an Oscar for Best Original Song Score for Purple Rain in 1985.

Meanwhile, Reuters are reporting that a person was found unresponsive on Thursday at the Minnesota home of the singer Prince and was later declared dead, but the identify of the person was not released, said Carver County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud.

Kamerud declined to say if the person was Prince and a representative for the local medical examiner declined to comment.

Authorities are now investigating the death and have said that an official name will not be released until next of kin are notified.
