Malin, Sunday @ 1.30 & 3pm

Naomh Columba 2-9 CLG BnaG 2-8
Na Galloglaigh were fierce disappointed on SUnday evening after a late late goal snatched victory from their grasp. In the first half the boys played against a really stiff breeze and struggled to get scores but defended well to limit Naomh Columba to 6 first half points, the majority from frees. Late on Brandon Toye nearly made it a great first half for Na Galloglaigh but his effort flashed just past the post to leave the score at the break 0-6 to 0-2. Glen showed their experience of the conditions in the second half and their strong middle third dominated kick outs and breaking ball preventing Na Galloglaigh to really get a scoring run going. With 10 minutes left Naomh Columba were still 3 points ahead before Pauric Curley struck for goal, and a few minutes later Jonny Logue had the ball again in the back of the Glen net. But Glens response was almost instantaneous going up the pitch and netting a goal for themselves. Christopher Barrett put Na Galloglaigh a point clear deep into injury time before disaster struck. A Glen free dropped short in the box and bobbled about in the air a few times before being fisted into the back of the net. Pauric Curley had time to score another point before referee Jimmy White blew it up after 6 minutes of injury time. For a while the depleted squad for a variety of reasons looked like they were going to take a great 2 points from Glencolumbcille but it wasn’t to be against a young and strong Naomh Columba. Nevertheless the boys should take heart that they are coming away from a place like Glen disappointed not to have got the win. Next up for Na Galloglaigh is another long trip, this time to Malin, next Sunday at 3pm.
Team: Sean Gallagher, Conor McNulty, Barry McNulty, Kieran Sheridan, Brandon Toye, Gavin Grier, Anthony Fisher, Sean Black, Paul Sweeney, Cathal Mc Gettigan (0-2), Pauric Curley (1-2), Chippie Barrett (0-1), Darragh Black (0-1), David Curley (0-1), Paddy Peoples. Subs: Cormac Toland for Sweeney (20m, BC), Jonny Logue (1-1), Gary Merritt and Adam Serrinha for S. Black, Toland and McGettigan (42m), Caolan Bolton, Caolan Mc Gettigan, Cormac Friel, Martin Doyle

Naomh Columba 4-12 CLG BanG 1-6
A young BnaG team were beaten by Glen yesterday 4-12 to 1-6. Despite playing with a strong wind in the 1st half they failed to take full advantage of it. Glen started the better and opened the scoring but Na Galloglaigh grew into the game and replied with scores from Martin Doyle and a boomer from the left touchline by James Whelan. However 2 goals from the Glen men increased the deficit to leave the half time scoreline 2-5 to 4 points. The 2nd half performance was much better with Na Galloglaigh taking control of much of the first 15 minutes. Some great fielding from Caolan Bolton and Whelan in midfield laid the platform for the young forward line to attack with Patrick Ferry, Hayden Curran, Shane Mc Bride and Doyle all taking on their opponents. The pressure paid off with scores and a goal at close range from Emmet Conaghan after hard work by Doyle brought the gap back to 3 points. But as their confidence grew and Na Galloglaigh pushed forward for an equaliser Glen responded with 2 goals on the counter attack, another was denied by a great save by Gavin McFadden and defending by Cathal Diver. These goals knocked momentum out of Na Galloglaigh and Glen finished strong with some late points. With 6 of last years Minor team involved the lads can hold their heads high for their efforts despite defeat at one of the toughest away fixtures in the county.
Team: Gavin McFadden, Cathal Diver, Cormac Friel, Emmet Conaghan (1-0), Paul Grier, Tony McGettigan, James Whelan (0-2), Caolan Bolton, Patrick Ferry, Ciaran McHugh (0-1), Marty Doyle (0-3), Hayden Curran, Shane McBride. Subs: James Mc Callum for Curran (45m), Curran for Doyle (52m)
