Reality show host Jeremy Kyle and a host of other celebrities have confirmed they will take part in a fundraising event in aid of the Donegal drowning victims.
The event, which involves a golf classic and a gala dinner, is being
organised by Mrs Brown’s Boy’s star Danny ‘Buster’ O’Carroll.
The actor, who also lives in Donegal, revealed how he heard about
the tragedy while touring Australia with his show.
He said he knew he had to do something to raise funds for Louise James
who lost five members of her family including her partner, two sons,
mother and sister in the tragedy.
All five died when their AudiQ7 jeep slipped into the water at
Buncrana Pier on the evening of Sunday, March 20th.
Danny O’Carroll has said all monies raised form the event will be
shared between the Louise James fund and suicide group Pieta House.
He revealed how a host of celebrity friends had agreed to take part in
the golf classic as well as to act as waiters on the night of the gala
dinner.
Tables of ten for the dinner cost €750 while O’Carroll has received
many pieces of memorabilia from sporting and showbiz friends to
auction on the night.
Among them is golfer Shane Lowry’s ball which he sunk a hole in one
with in the recent Masters tournament.
Danny said he was really looking forward to the event but could not
confirm a full list of celebrities because of their schedules.
“A lot of people said they will be there but you can never tell with
their schedules. But Jeremy Kyle will definitely be there and is
flying in on a friend’s private jet.
“A lot of people have been very generous already and have donated lots
of memorabilia which will be auctioned on the night.
“We have already raised half of the target I was hoping for so things
are going well and it’s going to be a great night,” he said.
The golf classic takes place at Rosapenna Golf Club on Friday, May
20th while the gala dinner takes place that evening at the Mount
Errigal Hotel in Letterkenny.
