A Donegal teacher has found some time away from his classroom to write a novel.
Seán de Gallaí from Gaoth Dobhair, a teacher at St. Fiachra’s Senior School in Beaumont Dublin, published his first novel ‘The Dancer.’
Sean has been teaching in the school for the past three years and is pictured here with some of his students and readers!
They were celebrating the opening of the new library at St. Fiachra’s Senior School which now boasts plenty of signed copies of ‘The Dancer’ of course.
The new library caters for the 636 students of St. Fiachra’s Senior School and was stocked by the local community, including the families of students and book donations also coming from Coláiste Dhúlaigh Coolock and from the Phibsboro and Coolock public libraries.
The Dancer is about troubled teenager Alex who is forced to leave her family and stay with her aunt Tammy and little cousin Kate who is training for an Irish dance Championship.
Soon Alex learns that all is not as it seems and as she gets closer to the truth her relationship with her little cousin and dancing becomes more important than she could ever have expected.
The book is suitable for teenagers and adults and there is a sequel in the making.
It’s available from Amazon. (There are a few shops in Donegal stocking it e.g Ionad Cois Locha, Dunlewey and Oideas Gael in Glencolmcille as well as Siopa Mhici in Gaoth Dobhair)
