FOOTBALL: Finn Harps have secured a crucial three points after they defeated Bray Wanderers 1-0 this evening at Finn Park.
A strike from Dave Scully in the 9th minute settled the contest, even though that goal came against the run of play.
Bray had started brightly and former UCD man Robbie Creevy could’ve opened the scoring but his header was off target.
Then came the crucial breakthrough, Ryan Curran played a super ball across the danger area, and on hand was Dave Scully to hammer home from close range.
In truth, Bray dominated proceedings and had lots of possession, but Harps are well organised and are extremely hard to breakdown under the tutelage of Horgan.
In the second-half, it was a similar pattern with Bray enjoying lots of possession but they never really tested Richard Brush.
Harps looked dangerous on the counter-attack, but as the half progressed the deeper they retreated.
Andrew Lewis who was lively all night for Mick Cooke’s side was dangerous and created a couple of half chances for himself.
Lewis also produced some teasing crosses but there was no Bray player on hand to supply the finishing touch.
Bray pushed hard to find an equaliser, but Harps held firm and earned another fine home.
They’ve now beaten Derry City, Longford Town and Bray Wanderers at home, and if they can continue that fine home form, then they could enjoy a fine season at Finn Park.
FINAL SCORE: Finn Harps 1 Bray Wanderers 0
