FINN HARPS were unlucky not to have won a share of the spoils as they lost out 1-0 to Galway.
Vinny Faherty scored the only goal of the game in the 59th minute to help Galway climb above Shamrock Rovers in the table.
In a dull opening half it was the home side who carved out the first chance, Richard Brush denying Kevin Devaney in the 18th minute.
It was the 30th minute before Harps seriously threatened the home goal.
Ethan Boyle did well to fire in a cross but Ryan Curran’s sliding legs just failed to connect.
After Faherty’s opener, Harps were always chasing the game against a tight Galway rearguard – Kevin McHugh firing one shot in from 35 yards.
But a better chance did come.
Galway keeper Paul Sinnott bungled a clearance, the ball fell to Curran but his shot went agonisingly wide.
