MOTORISTS are being warned of flooded roads overnight as forecasters predict 40mm of rain.
The county is also being lashed by high winds as squally showers and heavy rain continue following a miserable day across the county.
It will also be very cold overnight as winter temperatures continue around just 2C.
Readers are already reporting standing water on many routes and gardaí are once again appealing to motorists to drive with care on Thursday morning.
Thursday will continue with strong winds and frequent heavy showers, with east Donegal and Inishowen seeing the worst of the downpours, says BBC NI. It will also be bright and sunny at times between the showers.
It will be cold overnight on Thursday night with more showers forecast for Donegal.
Due to the low temperatures some of these showers could be wintry.
Saturday will be cold again with temperatures just 6 to 8 degrees once again in the afternoon but the winds are likely to be light and from a variable direction.
There is an improvement in sight on Sunday, with less frequent showers and calmer conditions.
