CAPPRY ROVERS NOTES 04/04/2016
CAPPRY ROVERS U12’s
CHAMPIONS
Well done to our under 12’s who last Tuesday evening won the East Donegal U12 League with 2 games to spare. This was a great achievement considering that this is now their 4th consecutive League win after winning the U8, U10 and now two U12 League titles and have never lost a league game in the 4 years!!!
They played Convoy Arsenal on Tuesday evening in Convoy and played great football, especially in the 1st half when they were immense. Even though they were so dominant, they went in at half time only 1-0 ahead through Mark Mbuli. In the 2nd half Convoy showed a little better but this Cappry team showed why they are champions by scoring 3 more goals. Luke McGlynn got the 2nd before Mark Mbuli got his 2nd and Cappry’s 3rd. Kevin McCormack wrapped things up for Cappry by scoring their 4th and sealing victory for the lads.
They played their 2nd last League game on Saturday Morning in Cappry against Killea FC and ran out comfortable winners with a 6-0 scoreline. Mark Mbuli (3), Kevin McCormack, Shaun McMenamin and Andrew Murray scoring the goals. This was a good performance all round from the lads and they now have won 13 from 13 in the League.
They have had a great season, Ulster champions, Last 32 in Ireland in the National Cup, League winners, Qualified for the Champions League and still have a cup final to play!!!
Well done to all concerned.

CAPPRY ROVERS
Cappry had a free weekend due to the Donegal Oscar Traynor team playing in Clare on Sunday. Unfortunately Donegal who are captained by Cappry’s Brian Lafferty were defeated 3-1 in the semi-final of the competition. A great achievement to reach that far. Cappry are away next Sunday where they will look for a very important 3 points against Rathmullan Celtic. Kick off in Rathmullan will be 2pm.
CAPPRY ROVERS RESERVES
Cappry started this game well and had an early chance when Kyle O’Meara raced clear and brought a fine save from the Donegal keeper. Cappry did take the lead in the 17th minute when Kyle O’Meara went through and finished well through the keeper’s legs. The game was very open and there were chances at both ends. Donegal did get level in the 30th when Gary Ward finished well. Straight from the kick off Conor Laverty went on a run and beat 3 Donegal defenders before firing into the bottom corner. Cappry started the 2nd half well and were 3-1 up when Darren Gibson’s effort was deflected past the Donegal keeper. Donegal came back into the game in the final 15 mins and got 1 back with 10 minutes to go when David Ted Bustard scored. Cappry were holding out well to the Donegal pressure but Donegal made 3-3 in the 89th when Adrian Ward finished following a scramble in the box. Two team performances.
CAPPRY ROVERS U16’s
Cappry Rovers were in Champions League action on Saturday morning when they travelled through the Gap to face Donegal Town. Cappry played very well in the 1st half and controlled the game for large spells. The score was 2-0 at the break thanks to goals from Joel Bradley Walsh and Jamie Keegan. At the start of the 2nd half Donegal got the perfect start when they scored in the 1st minute to pull the score back to 2-1. Things were tense after that but Cappry still looked comfortable with everything Donegal threw at them and were unlucky not to get another goal in the closing stages when Joel Bradley Walsh went one on one with the keeper only for the keeper to make a good save. Cappry were happy to come back with the 3 points. Team performance from the lads.
They are back in action tomorrow night (Tuesday) in Cappry Park when they welcome Bonagee Utd in round 2 of the Champions League group stages. Kick off at 7.30pm.
