Dublin GAA fans are to support the people of Donegal and Derry following last Sunday’s tragic drownings in Buncrana with a unique gesture.
Donegal take on Dublin in the National League at Croke Park tomorrow night (Sat).
And genuine Dublin GAA fans have suggested that five minutes into the game those in the stadium carry out a one minute round of applause.
Ironically the tribute will take place at 7.05pm – almost exactly the same time as the tragic event which claimed the lives of five members of the same family at Buncrana Pier.
Members of various Dublin Supporters Clubs are backing the plan and are asking fans in the stadium to take part.
A minute’s silence is likely to precede the game which throws in at 7pm.
A spokesman for the Dubs Supporters Page on Facebook have posted “The lads on the all Dublin GAA fans page have suggested that in the fifth minute of Saturday evening’s game against Donegal the whole stadium should stand up as one with a minutes applause in honour of those who perished.
“We here on the Dubs supporters page would like to appeal to everyone of you present on Saturday to join in and support this very fine gesture. Tragedies like this make you realise how precious life really is.”
