EWE BEAUTY! SHEEP GIVES BIRTH TO FIVE NEW LAMBS!

eweTHEY don’t do things by half on the Poole family farm in Fanad.

They don’t do it by the double either – more like ‘Gimme Five’.

For a three-year-old whitefaced ewe on their farm in Glassagh is the proud mum of no less than FIVE lambs.

Casey E. Poole has certainly been enjoying the spectacle.

He is pictured here with the ewe and her five offspring.

The quintuplets are a rare enough thing – in fact the chances of a ewe having five lambs is one in a million.

An IFA spokesman said: “Quintuplets are very rare. We hear of a lot about twins and triplets that are born on farms, but surviving quintuplets are something very special and unusual. This sort of thing may happen to a farmer a once in a generation if they are lucky.”
