Hundreds of people are expected to attend a special vigil in memory of all those involved in last Sunday’s drowning disaster.
The vigil, on a green area on the shorefront in Buncrana, will take place at 7pm to coincide with the exact time as last Sunday’s tragedy unfolded.
The vigil has been arranged by local County Councillor Rena Donaghey, chair of Inishowen Municipal Authority.
Cllr Donaghey said the vigil is not just for the people who sadly died in the tragedy but also for their family and friends as well as for the emergency services and people such as Davit Walsh who tried to save the family.
She said “We are expecting a lot of people to attend and we are hoping many of our neighbours from Derry who have been directly touched by this tragedy will also come along.
“We will recite the rosary in memory of all those affected by this terrible tragedy and it should take around half an hour.”
Cllr Donaghey said it is important that a week after the horrific events which rocked the local communities, people are given a chance to come together to grieve.
Hundreds of people continue to visit the scene of the tragedy at Buncrana Pier where the five people died when their jeep entered the water just after 7pm on Sunday evening last.
A shrine of teddy bears and flowers has ben built close to the scene where they tragedy unfolded.
