This year’s “Relay For Life Donegal” takes place at the LYIT on 4th & 5th June 2016 and is now open for Team entries.
Relay For Life is a 24 hour event that brings the whole community together to Celebrate the lives of cancer survivors, Remember those lost to the disease and Fight Back by increasing knowledge and awareness of cancer.
The event is now in it’s fifth year and the people of Donegal have really taken the event to heart.
So many families in the county have been affected by cancer in one way or another and this event allows everyone to come together as a community and to support one another in their personal journey. And ultimately, to hopefully one day, find a cure.
Last year €213,202 was spent in Donegal by the Irish Cancer Society and Relay for Life Donegal plays an important role in helping to fund these vital Irish Cancer Society services here in the county. But the Relay for Life event is not just about raising money but is also heavily focused towards education and awareness.
Two of the county’s Secondary schools, the Loreto in Letterkenny, and Mulroy College in Milford, have got involved in helping to promote awareness through student initiatives with their TY Students and it is planned to bring this initiative to other schools in the county shortly.
We are now open for Team Entries for this year’s event and anyone interested in taking part can contact any of the committee or by emailing “relayforlifedonegal@gmail.com” or phone Seamus on (087)2482775.
So join us at the LYIT on the 4th & 5th of June and let’s make this year’s event one to remember!
