A GARDA has miraculously survived having his patrol car rammed after an early morning pursuit.
This is the scene of the vehicle at McGrory’s Brae between Ballybofey and Donegal Town this morning.
A black Fiat Punto which failed to stop for gardai in Donegal was seen heading at speed towards Ballybofey.
At the roadworks at McGrory’s Brae the Punto drove straight into the Garda patrol car.
The garda inside had to be cut from the vehicle by the fire service and was rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital.
Miraculously his injuries were minor.
The drover of the Punto is still in hospital.
The Garda Ombudsman is at the scene – which remains closed to traffic.
A Garda spokesman said the Ombudsman attended the scene as a matter of routine but are not investigating the incident.
“Two people were injured and taken to Letterkenny University Hospital. Gardai are appealing for information about the movements of a black Punto on the Barnesmore Gap in the early hours of this morning,” added the spokesman.
