FEATURES: A group of locals in Annagry have designed and created a fabulous mural to celebrate the Centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising
Local councillor Micheál Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig congratulated staff, customers and owners for putting up a mural on the side of Duffy’s Bar in the small rural town.
The mural is of the seven signatories of the Irish proclamation!
Micheál Cholm told Donegal Daily, “The vision of the women and men of 1916 has still to be realised.
“We still have poverty on a large scale, people working and only earning a surviving wage, not a living wage, we still have discrimination between the sexes – and still a part of our country is under British occupation.
“Our language is on its knees in our Gaeltachta, and tens of thousands of our people leave our shores every year to find employment, so it’s vitally important that we continue to organise and to fight to bring about a Socialist Workers Republic!”
