Last Sunday in 14 degrees and a slight wind, the golfers of Otway lined out for the official kick start to 2016 with the Captain’s drive in.
Club Captain Thomas Merritt and Lady Captain Orla Gallagher welcomed the crowd to the new year at Otway, and members and visitors enjoyed ideal playing conditions, followed by refreshments and prizegiving in the clubhouse. Scoring was competitive on the day, but the winning team of Gerry Gallagher, Paddy Sheridan, Kathleen McCormick and Paddy Lynch took first place by the smallest of margins of point 2, pipping the team of Arthur Morrison, Patsy Gallagher, Pat McNulty and Paddy Merritt into second place.
With the new year off to a perfect start, members are back in action this Sunday 20th in the Dillon Cup, a singles stableford format, and bragging rights of the first winner of 2016 up for grabs!
