Details of the charities to benefit from the 20th anniversary of the Northwest 10K have been announced this evening.
The two charities to benefit from this year’s event are the Donegal branch of the Irish Pilgrimage Trust and also the Donegal branch of Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus.
This year’s event takes place on May 1st in Letterkenny and once again Donegal Daily and Brian McCormick Sports are the main sponsors.
To date the event has raised a staggering €709,000 for 31 Donegal charities.
Once again the first 2,000 walkers and runners to register for the event will receive the super-quality race t-shirts which are now synonymous with the event.
Chairman of the NW10K committee, James Boyle, announced the names of this year’s two main charities at a press conference in the Mount Errigal Hotel.
Mr Boyle encouraged as many people to register before the weekend of the event by logging onto www.northwest10k.com
Representatives of both charities gave a brief outline of their organisations and said they were delighted to be recognised by the NW10K organisers.
Mayor of Letterkenny, Cllr Gerry McMonagle, said the event had done so much good work in helping to raise much-needed finding for countless charities across Donegal for decades.
As well as registering online, those taking part in the race can register at Letterkenny’s Community Centre from Wednesday, April 27th until 1pm on the day of the race.
As well as lots of family fun, there will be spot prizes galore and prizes in the various race categories.
