Neil McGee after Sunday’s bloody encounter.

Donegal have been fined €7,500 and Neil McGee given a one match ban following last Sunday’s bruising encounter with Kerry.

The GAA’s Central Competitions Committee met today to discuss last Sunday’s bloody league encounter in Tralee.

Kerry have also been fined €7,500 but no Kerry player received a ban.

Gaoth Dobhair man McGee was involved in a heavily-publicised encounter with Kerry’s Alan Fitzgerald.

The Kerry player was given a red card after striking McGee following a scuffle with the Donegal.

Fitzgerald has claimed that his hand had been pulled and had gestured to the umpires but he was still given red-card while McGee was brought off to receive attention to his bloodied nose.

CCC bosses reviewed video evidence of the incident and have decided to hit McGee with a one game ban.

He is likely to serve that one match suspension when Donegal meet Roscommon at O’Donnell Park in Letterkenny this Sunday.

There has been no comment as yet from the Donegal camp.
