AS the war of attrition in Tralee saw Donegal’s men come up short against a very aggressive Kerry side, the county’s ladies were putting on a show in Ballyshannon in their top of the table clash with Clare.
Donegal saw off the visitors in the Lidl National Division Two clash by 4-11 to 2-7.
Yvonne McMonagle scored a hat-trick of goals and Geraldine McLaughlin added another as Donegal made it five wins from five outings.
The win ended Clare’s previously unbeaten record.
Donegal manager Micheal Naughton was delighted after the game.
There were also victories for Westmeath, Sligo and Cavan in Division 2
Elsewhere today the County U16 League Development team shocked favourites Cavan with a superb win in Killybegs.
Killybegs player Susi White put in a real captain’s performance and hit some stunning points as she led Donegal to a 3-06 to 2-05 victory.
There were also notable performances from Amy Laverty (Mac Cumhaills) and Clare Doherty (St Eunan’s).
