THE LADIES Gaelic Football Association will hold its annual convention in County Donegal next year.
Delegates in Sligo this weekend were told the destination of next year’s convention.
Earlier Donegal county chair Hugh Devenney, from the Four Masters club, was reappointed as national culture and language officer.
There were also some rules changes and defeated motions at the convention in Sligo.
Amended rules will see the clock stopped at games for the administering of yellow and red cards.
The advantage rule has now been extended – and comes in from April – referees allowing a five second advantage to the fouled player in games.
A motion extending the kick of 45m from the hands to adult football however was defeated.
Injury fund payments will remain at a maximum of €5,000, delegates agreed.
A new rule also means that all adult players must wear gum shields at games from 2017. Underage players are already covered by the rule.
There is another new rule about players who wear glasses.
“Players who require corrective eyewear and want to wear glasses to participate in Ladies Gaelic Football must wear glasses that use durable unbreakable polycarbonate for the lens and have durable unbreakable frames as advised by an optometrist to play gaelic games”.
