Donegal UFC star Joseph Duffy is eyeing a summer return to the Octagon as he looks to get back to winning ways.
Duffy made his UFC debut last March in Dallas – and produced a sensational 1st round KO.
He followed that up at the UFC event in Glasgow in July – with another early KO.
That led to a headline bout against Dustin Poirier in Dublin in October, but Duffy sustained concussion in sparring and was forced to pull out of the fight.
The re-scheduled fight was fixed for January 2nd in Las Vegas, but unfortunately Duffy lost narrowly in a real battle with Poirier.
Duffy lost the fight on points, but as always was humble in defeat, and said he would learn from it and move forward.
He decided to take a short sabbatical from the cage – but is now eyeing a summer return.
Duffy the last fighter to inflict defeat on UFC megastar McGregor is also predicting that the Notorious will KO Nate Diaz in their fight later tonight in Vegas.
Duffy said, “I’m not sure at the minute. I’m taking one step at a time. I’ve kind of left it in Firas’ hands, whenever he thinks I’m ready to come back.
“I kind of leave my career in the hands of my coaches, Firas and Eric. I trust their judgment. But I think that we are talking Summer.“
“I think Conor knocks him out in the first round. Diaz is game but I think his style really plays into the fight. To be honest, if it finished in first 30 seconds, I wouldn’t be surprised.”
