It was a mammoth week for the club with national glory being savoured on two counts last weekend.
Our seniors had a super 2-1 win over Killester at a splendid looking Leckview Park on Sunday in the intermediate cup quarter final. Goalscorers were Christy Connaghan and Darren McElwaine with a penalty. Rovers are away in the semi final were they have been drawn against Ringmahon Rangers (Cork) or Firhouse Clover (Dublin). That game will be played on week ending April 3rd.
The Youths reached the quarter finals of the Youth Cup with a magnificent 2-0 win over Ballinroad on Saturday last at the Aura. Goalscorers were Tarlach O’Boyle and Zac Gorman. They have been drawn away to Ballincollig(Cork) in the last 8 which is due to be played week ending 20th March.
Our only other team in action last week saw our u12s Rovers defeat Kilmacrennan Celtic 2-0. Lorcan Harvey and Faoud Bashar the scorers there.
A busy weekend on the field commences when the u12s Rovers play Bonagee at the Aura backpitch on Saturday at 1030am.
Our 14s Crusaders are away to Keadue at 1145am while the u14s Rovers make the short trip to Bonagee also at 1145am on Saturday.
Sunday sees our seniors back in league action with a trip to Templemore to play Derry City Reserves. Kickoff is at the later time of 3pm while our u12s Crusaders are away to Lurgy Celtic at 1015am.
The club would like to wish all club personnel involved with the Donegal Youth League representative team all the best for their game with Cork on Sunday morning.
The club held a very cordial AGM on Friday night last. There was one change on the officer board with Brian Gallagher installed as Asst Treasurer.
Dessie Kelly(Chairman) Victor Fisher (Vice Chairman) Eric White (Secretary) Michael Duffy(Asst Secretary) Brian McCormick(Treasurer) and Kieran McGrath(PRO) were all returned to serve on the executive.
The club would like to thank Cormac Curran who decided to step down as assistant treasurer after a number of long years of dedicated and diligent service while a presentation was made to club President Liam Blake to mark his milestone 80th birthday.
