SOUTH Donegal will be represented in the Dáil by two Fianna Fáil TDs, one Sinn Féin TD and one Fine Gael TD.
Senator Marc MacSharry (Sligo) topped the poll and his Fianna Fáil running mate Eamon Scanlon (Sligo) was elected on the 15th count.
Fine Gael’s Tony McLoughlin (Sligo) was also elected on that 15th and final count.
In between Leitrim councillor Martin Kenny exceeded the quota on the 13th count after receiving 4,772 transfers from his Sinn Féin running mate Chris MacManus.
Mr Kenny had been a Dáil candidate on three previous occasions and will be the only TD to represent Leitrim in the new Dáil.
He has vowed however to also represent south Donegal and west Cavan which were included in the new Sligo-Leitrim constituency.
