Former Derry City and Finn Harps goalkeeper Rory Kelly will return to the Letterkenny Rovers line-up for tomorrow’s crunch clash with Killester United in the FAI Intermediate Cup.
Kelly is currently based in London, and hasn’t played for Rovers since their last victory in the previous round of this competition over Cork side Midleton FC.
Eamon McConigley’s side face a tough, tough task against opposition who are seasoned at competing regularly at this stage of the tournament every year.
However, McConigley’s side is packed with former LOI players and he is very confident his side can progress to the last four.
Letterkenny have already seen off Cockhill Celtic, Dunboyne (after a replay) and Cork side Midleton.
Killester will represent their toughest challenge to date, but Letterkenny are confident despite two poor results of late.
McConigley prioritised the FAI Intermediate Cup from the very start of the season for his squad, and thus far they haven’t let him down.
McConigley said, “The players are relishing the occasion, and they can’t wait for Sunday.
“This is the competition you want to play in, you’re testing yourself against the best in the country.
“There’s a great buzz around the place and we want it to continue, we’ve been focusing on Killester since the draw was made and come Sunday we’ll be ready to battle.”
Letterkenny will return to Leckview Park tomorrow, and haven’t played at the venue since November 22nd.
It’s another boost for Rovers to return to their home pitch, and they’ll be hoping they can record another famous cup win.
