A huge crowd attended the highly-anticipated Dungloe GAA Fight Night on Saturday evening – with close to 1,000 people descending on the Sports Hall for a night of great entertainment.
In the main billing, St Michael’s clubman Michael ‘The Rock’ Gallagher defeated Adrian Hanlon in what was a tactical affair from two astute boxers.
In the first fight of the night, JP O’Donnell enthralled the crowd with his extravagant entrance.
The Maghery Band played their ‘Price of Maghery’ into the ring for his bout with Christopher Walsh.
O’Donnell won unanimously and that fight set the tone for what was a great night of action.
There was some excellent bouts thereafter with wins for Martin McGlynn over Conor Comack, Gavin Ward over Phillip Melly, Marty Boyle over Patrick Boyle and Michael Boyle over Daniel Gallagher.
There was then an interval taken for half an hour before the action resumed.
After the break Benny McGarvey defeated Cathal Brennan and was later named Fighter of the Night.
His brother Martin McGarvey then defeated Tarlach Bonner, while Conor Greene got the better of Ciaran Sharkey in a superb fight.
Fight of the Night occurred between Doalty Boyle and Robert Wherley, with Boyle winning narrowly.
Ryan Greene defeated Mark Sweeney in another super fight, before Adrian Hanlon and Michael Gallagher faced off.
All in all it was a fantastic night’s entertainment, and well done to all who helped organise the event – and to the fighters who took part.
