The Rosses has been struck down by boxing fever in the last few weeks due to the eagerly anticipated Dungloe GAA Fight Night.
There are some exciting clashes down for decision – and the event sold out weeks ago!
JP O’Donnell and Christopher Walsh have had a number of colourful exchanges on social media and their the first two fighters into the ring tonight.
The ”banter’ between the pair has wet the appetite and if the ‘thrash talking’ is as good as the boxing then we’re in for a cracker.
Another notable fight that has caught the imagination of the local sporting fraternity is the clash between Doalty Boyle and Robert Wherley.
The two men are known to never back down on the football field, and some would say relish the confrontational side of the GAA – as oppose to actually playing – so it should be a cracker.
The two McGarvey brothers Martin and Benny face off against Tarlach Bonner and Cathal Brennan respectively in what will be two bruising encounters.
The full card is filled with cracking bouts and it promises to be a superb night of boxing.
The one fight many are predicting to be the fight of the night is the clash between Adrian Hanlon and Michael ‘The Rock’ Gallagher.
Hanlon is well-known for his prowess with his hands in and out of the ring and is a classy operator.
While Gallagher has two All-Ireland boxing titles to his name and is a distinguished fighter.
Chief organisers Shaun Sharkey and Noel McBride are delighted with the card they’ve put together.
McBride told Donegal Daily, “I’ve been running around Dungloe the last six weeks like Don King or Eddie Hearn!
“I’ve never done boxing promoting before and I’ll tell you now it’s not easy!
“Thankfully though we’ve put a great package together – and that’s been evidenced by the demands for tickets!
“The venue sold out weeks ago, and to be honest we could’ve doubled the crowd if we had the space, but it’s going to a great night.
Shaun Sharkey added, “Everything has gone to plan so far, and the demand for tickets has been incredible.
“The fighters have worked really hard – and they deserve a lot of credit for getting into the ring.
“My own brother Ciaran is in action against Conor Green (The Green Machine) so that’ll be a great bout.
“Ciaran has showed over the years how good he is with his hands on the GAA field, so lets hope that transfers into the ring too!”
This one has all the recipe’s required to be a super fight – one thing is for sure that 500 strong crowd will be treated to a great night of action and entertainment.
