A Donegal Independent candidate will officially launch his General Election campaign tonight.
Michael Mooney, will officially launch his campaign at The Station House Hotel, in Letterkenny.
Mooney has been very vocal in his stance over the introduction of Irish Water charges.
Mooney has been involved in countless demonstrations over the controversial tax in Donegal, and his passionate stance towards Irish Water has won him an army of admirers.
A video of him dealing eloquently with Irish Water workers in a Donegal housing estate went viral in 2014.
He forced them to stop putting in water meters after explaining to them that what they were doing was illegal.
Mooney has also been actively involved in a group named ‘Donegal Against Debt and Repossessions’ and he along with other political activists were successful in stopping a number of families from being evicted.
Mooney is fed up with the current political system which he believes is rotten to the core.
It’s time for change and Mooney believes that Independents are the only solution to make real change in Donegal and Ireland.
Mooney’s campaign launch will start at 8pm tonight in The Station House Hotel, and he’ll kick off his campaign in Inishowen tomorrow night at Simpson’s Bar in Carndonagh.
