Old Orchard Saturday Division
Drumkeen United 1 Arranmore United 2
It was dry but bitterly cold in Drumkeen on Saturday afternoon as Arranmore were the visitors for this Saturday League top of the table Clash. Drumkeen started well and dominated the early minutes of the game during which they created several chances which they failed to convert. They did take the lead after thirteen minutes when they were awarded a penalty for handball. Peter McNamee who had played the ball that led to the penalty stepped up and calmly slotted it home giving Arranmore keeper Green no chance. The home team continued to dominate the game and both McNamee and Brannigan had chances to add to their season’s tally which they failed to do. During this period towards the end of the half Arranmore did force a few free kicks and corners without really troubling Michael Gibson in the Drumkeen goal. Drumkeen had a really good chance when Michael Patton was unlucky to see his shot hit the post and the ball came back out to Peter McNamee but he was unable to finish from close range. Despite all of their first half dominance the home team only had one goal to show. It was the visitors who started well in the second half and their early pressure paid off when a foul on Gavin Mc Glanaghey out on the left wing resulted in a free kick. Declan Proctor took the free kick which struck the arm of a Drumkeen player and referee Martin Mc Annaney pointed to the spot. Benny Mc Garvey stepped up and scored the penalty to level the score at one goal apiece. Arranmore were now having the best of it and had another penalty shout denied by the referee. They took the lead on the hour mark when a Benny Mc Garvey through ball found and unmarked Gavin Mc Glanaghey just inside the box and he finished well for what proved to be the winner. Drumkeen threw everything at it towards the end and at times left themselves vulnerable to the counter attack. They did not concede any more goals but they were unable to find an equaliser and it was the visitors who took all three points.
Orchard F.C. 2 Fintown Harps AFC 1
Orchard came away with the 3 points from a game that was reversed to Fintown after Orchard’s pitch was deemed unplayable. Fintown took an early lead when a long ball caused some confusion in the Orchard back-line and Fintown striker John Joe running through for a nice finish that was aided by a strong breeze. Orchard got back on level terms when Niall Bonner’s pin point cross into the box found Gio Peoples who’s neatly flicked header gave the keeper no chance. Orchard scored what proved to be the winner in the final minute of the first half when Peoples played a ball over the top for Jerome Burke who slotted into an empty net after the Fintown keeper had spilled the initial pass. Orchard couldn’t add to their tally in the second half however they did have chances for Bonner, Peoples, and John Boyle. A solid team performance from Fintown with Gio Peoples and Rory O’ Gorman impressing for Orchard.
Glencar Inn Saturday Reserve Division
Drumoghill F.C. Reserves 1 Erne Wanderers Reserves 3
Both teams played out an entertaining game in ‘The Moss’ but it wasn’t till the hour mark that the first goal arrived as both defences in top form. Erne took the lead via a penalty after John Maddigan was judged to have fouled Mark Dorrian who converted the resulting penalty. Their lead was short lived as Drumoghill grabbed the equaliser ten minutes later when Mark Gibson sent Kaolan O’ Donnell through on goal and after rounding the defender he slotted the ball past the advancing keeper. The game looked like it was going to end all square but up stepped Phillip Patton with two quick goals in the last ten minutes to ensure his team victory. Referee: Andrew Mullin
Glenea United Reserve 1 St. Catherines Reserves 0
Glenea Reserves continued their good home form with a hard earned victory over St. Catherines. In a game of few chances it was the home side that created most of them and took the lead on 25 minutes when Dean Gallagher headed home a Martin Doohan corner. In the 2nd half the away side came more into the game but were unable to create any clear cut chances and it was Glenea that came closest at the end of the game to increasing their lead when Martin Maguire and Michael McHugh were denied by good saves. Good team performances from both sides. Referee: Dessie Mc Laughlin

(Match Postponed)
Castlefin Celtic Reserves 3 Keadue Rovers Reserves 0
Castlefin maintained their charge for the title with a comfortable home victory over Keadue on Saturday in Park View in bitter conditions. The hosts started the brighter and were rewarded for their pressure when Ian Ward collected a loose ball deep inside the Keadue half and played through Ronan Tourish who slotted home with seven minutes on the clock. Castlefin maintained the pressure and doubled their advantage when a Matthew O’ Rourke cross from the right was volleyed home by Ward at the back post in the 20th minute. In the 27th minute the home side increased their lead again when Tourish capitalised on an error in the visitor’s defence and slotted home from 15 yards. The home side created numerous chances through O’ Rourke, Tourish and Ward but they were denied by Keadue keeper Ben Boyle. In the second half the visitors pressed the home side back but their defence stood firm. The hosts created a few chances on the break but couldn’t find a way past Boyle who was in fine form. Best for Castlefin: Paul Logue and Ronan Tourish. Best for Keadue: Ben Boyle Referee: Pauric Hegarty
Glenree United Reserves 0 Curragh Athletic Reserves 0
This game was reversed to the New Camp. A combative first half saw few chances. Glenree went closest with a speculative effort from Pat Mc Groddy that rattled the bar and which was subsequently cleared off the line. The second half was similar with both sides creating chances but unable to convert. Game finished 0-0 earning both sides a deserved point.

Glenea United 2 Rathmullan Celtic 1
Glenea got a vital win in their battle against relegation. In a tight first half both sides battled to get on top and clear openings were at a premium. Rathmullan almost opened the scoring on 20 minutes when Shay Coyle headed a corner against the post. On 30 minutes Eamonn Sheridan got onto a through ball but saw his effort saved by Joe Coll. Glenea best effort saw Ciaran Mc Geady get onto a loose ball, beat a defender but drag his shot wide of the goal. The away side opened the scoring on the stroke of half time when Eamonn Sheridan was allowed to get onto a through ball and slotted the ball into the corner of the net. In the 2nd half Glenea pushed hard for an equaliser but failed to take advantage of a couple of chances that came their way until the 65 minute when Lee O’ Brien headed home a Sean Coll corner. The home side continued to press for a winner and were rewarded on 73 minutes when a Dean Mc Carry cross was headed against the post by Ciaran Mc Geady and Darren Mc Geever was on hand to fire home the rebound. Rathmullan tried to respond but were unable to create any clear cut chances until he 88th minute when the home defence failed to deal properly with a long ball and it broke to Rathmullan but the resultant effort went wide of the post. Best for Glenea were Dean Mc Carry, John Harley and Ciaran Mc Geady while Eamonn Sheridan was best for Rathmullan. Referee: Paddy Duffy
Kilmacrennan Celtic 0 Milford United 0
Sunday’s game saw Kilmacrennan play host to Milford at Errigal College. Milford caught Kilmac on the back foot and dominated the game for the first 10 minutes creating numerous chances on goal, this was the wake-up call Kilmacrennan needed and they picked up the pace. Early in the first half Milford’s Adam Serrinha found himself one on one with Kilmac’s keeper, Jason Hegarty but Jason managed to pull off a vital save to keep the game alive for the Kilmac men. Milford looked like scoring again on the 35th minute but once again Jason Hegarty held strong to deny them their lead. At the other side of the park Kieran Gorman had the best chance and came close to putting the Kilmac men ahead with a header that went a few inches wide of the near post just before half time. The second half started scrappy between these rival teams with both teams defending well. Milford came close to taking the lead but Kilmacs’ new signing Seamie Friel cleared the ball after Gary Merritt’s free kick struck the crossbar in the dying minutes of the game. Best for Kilmacrennan: Seamie Friel, Daire McDaid and Christopher Dillon. Solid team effort from Milford. Referee: Joe McHugh
Temple Domestic Appliances Division One
Lifford Celtic 1 Lagan Harps 3
Lifford started off well in the first half with both team pushing for goals. Lagan came close on a few occasions but couldn’t find the net. Lifford took the lead in the 20th minute. In the second half Lagan started the better and equalised after 10 minutes through Kenny Doran. Lagan kept the push on the Lifford men and were rewarded with another two goals, both from Mark Hunter. Best for Lifford were Square Mc Nulty and Paul Carlin good team performance from Lagan.
Kerrykeel ’71 F.C. 5 Gweedore United 7
What a game of football at Rab’s Park as Gweedore came out on top in a twelve goal thriller. When one is sitting at the bottom of the table things don’t seem to go to plan and it was like that today for the ‘71 as it seemed that every little mistake was punished by the away side. Both teams started well and Gweedore took the lead on eight minutes when Kerrykeel failed to clear their lines and Sean Mc Ginley fired home. The home side were level on twelve minutes with Mylie Mc Bride poking home from a Damien Watters cross. Gweedore punished the Kerrykeel defence on eighteen minutes, this time Baggio Boyle fired home from six yards. The home side levelled on thirty minutes when a great Sean Patton corner was headed home by Tony Mc Bride. Kerrykeel were well on top but allowed Gweedore a two goal cushion at half time after shocking defending in the space of two minutes before the break which allowed Ciaran Mc Fadden to score twice. Kerrykeel pushed hard at the start of the second half and had good chances from Donal Callaghan and Cathal Martin, but again Gweedore hit them for six with two more goals in the space of five minutes with Mc Fadden and Boyle both netting. With thirteen minutes remaining Donal Callaghan gave the home side hope after a great finish from a Mylie Mc Bride pass. Two minutes later Miley Mc Bride made it 6-4, this time receiving a great ball from Niall Car to slot past the keeper. Just two minutes later, Kerrykeel got a fifth to set up a grandstand finish, Andrew Friel sending a drive into the top corner from 15 yards. Kerrykeel threw everything at Gweedore for the last five minutes but Brian Gallagher cleared everything. With just seconds remaining Ciaran Mc Fadden wrapped up the scoring, catching the ‘71 on the break and coolly rounded Shaun Friel. Heartbreak for the ‘71 after such a gallant fight-back. Best for Kerrykeel: Miley Mc Bride, Niall Carr and Shaun Patton. Referee: Con Mc Laughlin
CT Ball Division Two
Letterbarrow Celtic 1 Eany Celtic 1
South County rivals Letterbarrow and Eany play out this drawn match at Tymeen on Sunday afternoon. The game started in usual derby mode with neither side wanting to give anything away. Letterbarrow thought they had taken the lead when Christopher Burke scored but his effort was disallowed by match official Ed Moore. Pauric Mc Groarty gave Eany the lead on 55 minutes when he scored from close range. After this however it was all Letterbarrow. They got a deserved equaliser on 75 minutes when Joyce Porter scored direct from a corner. The home side had two great chances to claim all three points but they could convert neither opportunity. The game ended in a draw with Roper and Kenna best for Eany and Christopher Burke of Letterbarrow Man of the Match. Referee: Ed Moore.
Whitestrand United 0 Dunkineely Celtic 0.
There were few chances created by either team in this match. The Dunkineely back four were holding strong with the Dunkineely Keeper the voice of authority. Whitestrand did make a big push in the final 5 minutes of the 1st half but to no avail. The 2nd half started a bit more eventful with Whitestrand breaking forward but lacking the final ball. A chance did come to Whitestrand in 67th minute but they hit the crossbar. Dunkineely were hoping for a Whitestrand defensive error to capitalise on but it never came. As the Game entered the final quarter it rather petered out as both Teams seemed to accept the score as it stood. Referee: John Coyle.
Deele Harps 1 Ballybofey United 0
Deele entertained Ballybofey at The Athletic Grounds and the away side settled best in the opening minutes but the Deele defence were in control. Deele grew into the game and created several good chances through Kevy Mc Brearty, Shane Gallagher and Kevin Lynch all going close. Kevin Lynch had a good penalty shout on 25 minutes but the referee waved play on. Deele took the lead on 29 minutes when good work from Johnny Mahon led to Kevy Mc Brearty feeding Shane Gallagher who rifled home from 20 yards. The second half was a tight affair with few chances at either end but Deele were dominating possession. The game was uneventful until the 74th minute when the referee abandoned the match much to bemusement of both teams. Referee: Barry Hunter.
Curragh Athletic 0 Copany Rovers 2
This was a game played in perfect conditions at Curragh Sports Complex. Copany started well scoring in the second minute when Paul Patton headed home. After that it was all Curragh from then on but some good defending from Copany denied them any way into the match. In the eighty ninth minute a long ball over the top for Lee Johnstone gave him the opportunity to seal the points and he duly took it.
