Members of the Letterkenny Heritage Group say they are appalled at the latest dumping of litter in the town.

It follows blatant large-scale littering in the Kirtstown area of the town.

Chairperson of the group, Gabriel Flood, told Donegal Daily the incident was brought to their attention by members of the public.

Mr Flood described this dumping as ‘selfish.’

He also suggested that a large vehicle was used to transport the litter for to be dumped in the area.

“As Chairperson of the local Heritage Group I am appalled at this selfish practice and obviously from the amount dumped its being transported there in a large vehicle,if people can afford such vehicles then they can clearly afford to pay for their waste disposal.

“Kirkstown is a beautiful scenic part of the town and is a popular walking route with many locals illegal dumping like this not only looks bad it can have a fatal impact on the local wildlife and their natural habitat.”

He added that his group will pass on this information to the local Council authority for investigation.
