SHUTTERS came down and shop and business staff lined the footpaths as Donegal Town paid its final respects to one of its most loved sons.
It was a final fitting tribute to Dom Breslin who was laid to rest today
Affectionately known as “Wee Dom” the 81 year old hotelier passed away peacefully in Sligo Hospital on Sunday past.
Hundreds of people gathered inside and outside St Mary’s Church, Killymard, for Requiem Mass at noon.
Mourners heard of a man who was loved by all who knew and met him.
Just moments before the cortege entered The Diamond, the shutters came down and doors closed around all the businesses.
Staff at the Abbey Hotel which he used to own lined up along the footpath as the hearse slowed outside.
Customers of the banks and shops joined in to a final tribute to a man who brought so much energy and life to Donegal Town.
“We won’t see the likes of wee Dom again,” remarked a member of staff at The Abbey.
“He was a legend. It’s a fitting send off to one of our own.”
Mr Breslin was laid to rest in Clar Cemetery this afternoon.
