While Oisín is a winner of an All-Ireland medal, 7 Ulster medals and named as an All Star on 7 occasions at county level alone the message he will be carrying will not be one of a champion of his sport but rather of a man broken by an addiction.
In recent years the revenue spent by companies on Sports advertising with every sports medium media outlet peppered with ads for gambling.
According to Colaiste Ailigh teacher Seosamh Mac Ceallabhuí “It is absolutely frightening how easy it is for anyone to open an account on any of these websites with many of them offering incredible introductory deals”
He also stated that if your son/daughter were gambling on a regular basis it’s almost impossible to know. He feels that like the advertising for tobacco and alcohol a strong push must be made to ban advertising for gambling on sport related media.
Oisin will address a crowd of Donegal TY students from St Eunan’s, St Columbas, Loreto Letterkenny, Colaiste na Carraige and Abbey Vocational School at 11 30am in the Trinity Hall. You can get more information from TY students in these schools.
This will be the start of a very busy day for BEO in Letterkenny with a Ceile organised for after lunch and later that evening there will be a music gig in the RCC.
First up will be local lads Ciaran and Eoghan and their newly formed band Indoor Wars followed by The Other Breed from Derry. Reabhloideach a teenage all girl band Abbey Vocational School will be follow and will be under pressure to perform as they did at the recent BEO gig in Colaiste na Carraige. The Abbey girls have a mix of Irish and English songs with the most anticipated their own composition Splanc.
Highlight of the night for many will be Clanns. Their recently released atmospheric rock material is getting rave reviews from the likes of Ronan Mac Aodha Bhuí with Make me a child sure to be the focal point of their set. The Letterkenny boys will be drawing from a wealth of experience attained over the years playing as The Capital.
Last up is Mick Lockin a Derry based DJ who has been diligently honing his skills in places like the Swell Sessions and Mandells Hall Belfast.
