In six short months The School Door has become the place to go for quality, focused, educational workshops.
At The School Door they use LEGO to support learning. Children play to learn and at The School Door they know how to make play work for children!
With a growing team of educationally minded facilitators, workshops at The School Door are running in an ever increasing number of areas!
Maggie Green, the founder of The School Door, is passionate about education and has spent much of her career studying and conducting research in the areas of autism and speech and language disorders.
When asked about the demand for workshops and how it was being met Maggie told Donegal Daily, “We have a lot of interest in our workshops but we keep our group sizes small to make sure that each child who attends benefits from the workshops.
“It’s important to us that children always remain at the centre of the learning process. Our workshops are designed to target specific learning goals through play.”
The School Door run workshops after-school and on Saturday mornings in lots of different areas. Workshops are also available for primary schools and secondary schools and the feedback from Principals has been positive:
“It was a great learning experience and particularly well-suited and appealing to pupils with dyslexia as there was no pressure on them to be able to write things down, spell words correctly and deal with things like grammar and punctuation.
They were able to fully engage in the activity and felt a sense of achievement at the end of it.” Wendy Long, Principal of Donoughmore NS.
Recently The School Door added a brand new range of workshops to their list of services.
Team Building Problem Solving workshops for adults are now available – why should children have all the fun!
Green continued, “Our team building activities for adults build problem-solving skills. Members of each team analyse information and communicate and cooperate with one another to find the solution to the challenges we set.
They are encouraged to listen and to think about the way they make decisions, whilst having fun!”
With a growing staff and increasing demand for their services The School Door is a company to watch in 2016!
