General Election Candidate Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher has welcomed the news that approval for a housing project for persons with intellectual disabilities in Dungloe has been given the go ahead.
The Parents and Friends Housing Association will appoint an Architect who will immediately proceed with the preparation of Plans for 3 X 5 bedroom Housing Units on a site at Fair Hill Dungloe.
The site is in close proximity to their centre at the Angle Dungloe.
Approval has also been given to submit an application for planning permission once the design has been completed.
Funding has been sanctioned to cover the architectural fees and other associated costs.
Gallagher told Donegal Daily, “I have had a close association with this group for many years.
“I greatly appreciative the commitment and dedication of the members of the West Donegal Parents and Friends Association to those with intellectual disabilities.
“The Day centre in Dungloe which was extend in the recent past was the first to be established and opened in 1985.
“I am delighted that their application has now been approved and I am hopeful that work on the houses could commence before the end of this year.
“The members and Management are to be commended for their persistence and preference over the last number of year thus ensuring that their dreams will now become a reality.”
