Rory Gallagher will meet with Paul Durcan next month to discuss the possibility of him returning to the Donegal set-up ahead of their Ulster SFC campaign.
Durcan is regarded as one of the finest goalkeepers in Ireland – and his consistent performances made him a huge favourite with Donegal fans.
His performance for Ballyboden St Enda’s in their Leinster Final win over Portlaoise drew plaudits from the GAA world.
His stunning save was the difference and he’ll return next month for their semi-final clash with Clonmel Commercials.
Durcan is currently based in Qatar – but hinted when he emigrated that he would be returning to Ireland in May.
That suggested an immediate return to action for Donegal – but The Irish Mirror have reported that a meeting will take place between Gallagher and Durcan in February – which will shed more light on the situation.
Donegal fans would love to see Durcan return as he enjoyed a superb season in 2015 – after the disappointment of the All-Ireland final in 2014.
Michael Boyle suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury, and won’t be back in action until April.
Danny Rodgers, Peter Boyle and Marc Anthony McGinley are all vying for the No.1 spot.
However, Rodgers is the favourite to take the jersey for their Allianz National League clash on Saturday with Down.
