A WELL-known local refuse collection company has been ordered to pay an ex-employee €8,500 compensation for unfair dismissal
Paul Gallagher took his case against Ferry’s Refuse Collection Limited.
The ruling of the Employment Appeals Tribunal follows a hearing in Letterkenny on 20th October 2015
The tribunal said Ferry’s Refuse Collection Limited did not put an appearance in at the hearing.
“The Tribunal satisfied itself that the claimant in this case had neither received payment from the respondent as recommended by a Rights’ Commissioner nor had the respondent appealed those recommendations within the stipulated time allowed,” the tribunal ruled.
“Accordingly, The Tribunal now determines that the respondent discharge the sum of €7,500.00 to the claimant as recommended by a Rights’ Commissioner under the Unfair Dismissals Acts, 1977 to 2007, and also makes a payment to the claimant of €1,000.00 as recommended under the Terms of Employment (Information) Act, 1994 and 2012.”
