A young man who had flown home from Canada was suffering from both jet lag and too much drink when he was arrested by Gardai, a court has heard.
Daniel Doherty, 24, appeared before Letterkenny District Court today charged with engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour at Lower Main Street, Letterkenny on February 20th, 2015.
Doherty was observed by Gardai making threats to other men and despite being asked to move on, he continued to engage in abusive behaviour and was arrested.
Solicitor Gordon Curley told the court that his client had returned from Canada that day where he had been working for two years as a carpenter.
He said it was a combination of jet lag and alcohol which led to his behaviour which he said Doherty, of 31 Beechwood Road, Letterkenny, had very little recollection of.
“It wasn’t a good cocktail,” said Mr Curley.
Judge Paul Kelly ordered Doherty to pay €150 to Pieta House and he said he would strike out the charge.
