BOOKMAKERS have issued odds today for the new five-seat Donegal constituency which gives Sinn Fein and Fianna Fail two seats each – with Joe McHugh set to retain his seat for Fine Gael.
If the odds are to be believed it would mean independent Thomas Pringle losing his seat – with a gain to Fianna Fail.
BoyleSports are giving hot favourite odds to sitting TDs Pearse Doherty and Padraig Mac Lochlainn – both available at 1/33 (that’s just one euro back for every 33 you wager!)
Sitting Fine Gael TD and Gaeltacht Minister Joe McHugh is also a hot favourite to return to Dáil Eireann at 1/10 on.
Next up is Fianna Fail’s Charlie McConalogue – with again very short odds – on 4/11.
And taking the final seat, according to the bookies at least – will be Pat The Cope Gallagher who is 1/2 on for a return to the Dail.
BoyleSports’ odds appear to rule out a seat for independents this time around but Pringle is available at Evens.
Sinn Féin’s Gary Doherty – at 5/2 – might be worth a wager.
Independent Niamh Kennedy is 5/1 (could be worth a fiver), Fine Gael’s Paddy Harte is 6/1, Tim Jackson is 20/1, and Paul Flanagan from the Green Party is 100/1.
They are also offering 20/1 on John O’Donnell, but he has said he isn’t running for a seat.
