COASTAL erosion is a fact of life; a geographical phenomenon at work for thousands of years along the Irish coast.
But this drone footage taken by Peter Homer over Lagg Beach, or Five Fingers Strand.
Last week local TD Padraig Mac Lochlainn called for urgent action to save the beauty spot, popular with tourists and locals for generations.
But the real march of the sea is captured in Peter’s video taken from February last year and this month at the Inishowen beach.
“This bird’s eye video shows the extent of the damage caused by the winter storms at 5 Fingers / Lagg beach,” said Peter.
“As a result of recent stormy weather the beach road at the entrance to the beautiful five-fingers strand is now inaccessible and dangerous. Storm defences and repairs are urgently required.”
Below are pictures from the drone footage…showing the before and after affects of coastal erosion.
