CAPPRY ROVERS
After a long lay off Cappry were finally back in action at the weekend when they travelled to The Moss to take on Drumoghill FC. Cappry were slow to get going in the 1st half and found themselves going in 2 nil down at half time. In the 2nd half Cappry battled hard to get back into it but could not find a way past an organised Drumoghill back line.
Next weekend they face a very tough trip to Killybegs to face the defending champions, St Catherines. Kick off will be at 2pm in Emerald Park, Killybegs.
CAPPRY ROVERS RESERVES
The away side started the better against a young Cappry side. The away pressed from the start looking for the opening goal but were unable 2 find away through the Cappry defence from open play. The home team went close to scoring first when Neil Patrick McDaid hit the crossbar from a tight angle. Erne did open the scoring when they scored direct from a free kick. The game remained 1-0 at half time. The home team started the second half much better and had Erne pushed deep into their own half. They came close to get back level when Conor Laverty found Leo Gallagher with his cross but the Erne keeper made a fine save. Cappry were pressing to get back level but couldn’t find away through the Erne defence. Erne were dangerous on the counter attack. With 10 mins to go Cappry finally got the goal they deserved when Kyle O’Meara finished well at the near post. Cappry pressed for a winner but couldn’t find one. Two team performances.
Cappry are on their travels again next weekend when they travel to Killybegs to play St Catherines. Kick off will be at 2pm.
CAPPRY CRUSADERS 14’s
After an enforced layoff since mid November our U14 Crusaders made the short trip to play Bonagee Arcade last Sunday! With only 11 players travelling our boys started well, and tried to get their passing game going. Bonagee scored with three long range efforts and dominated the last ten minutes of the first half to lead 5-0 at half time. A team shuffle at half time saw Cappry put in a spirited performance with some heroic defending and dynamic midfield from the impressive Odhran Thomas who put in his best performance ever in the Cappry Colours. In a sweeping move Thomas, Keelan Browne and Owen Stewart combined to release Kian Mulligan who dispatched a clinical finish into the Bonagee net. A 6-1 final score does not reflect the effort put in by our boys as we finished with only 9 fit players. Well done to our boys for a committed performance for the full 70 minutes. Thanks to Bonagee for their usual sporting hospitality and a good game!
CAPPRY ROVERS 12’s
Cappry played host to Lifford on Saturday afternoon in a game that had to be played at the Finn Valley due to the Saturday team playing at home at the same time. Cappry created numerous chances early in the game but lacked their clinical finishing. Lifford created a couple of chances of their own and converted their 2nd to go 1-0 up. This was to be as good as it would get for them because it seemed to drive the Cappry lads on and as soon as Kevin McCormack equalised following a great pull back from Mark Mbuli, there only seemed to be one winner. Cappry ended up 7-1 winners on the day with Luke McGlynn (3), Mark Mbuli, Daniel Marley and Shaun McMenamin getting the other goals.
CAPPRY COLTS 12’s
Cappry Colts were away to Ballybofey Colts on Wednesday evening last at a very cold Finn Valley Centre. Ballybofey got off to a great start when they went 1-0 up after a mix up in the Cappry defence. Cappry fought back hard and equalised when Niall Ryan scored his 1st of the night. Niall got on the score sheet again before half time for his and Cappry’s 2nd.
At the start of the 2nd half Cappry started where they left off and soon found themselves 3-1 up when Niall completed his hatrick. This was quickly followed by his and Cappry’s 4th goal of the night when the in form striker found the back of the net once again. Cappry were flying at this stage and Eoin McGonagle made sure of the points when he scored a well taken goal. A great team effort from the Colts.
