Glencar Celtic 4 Fintown Harps AFC 0
Glencar Celtic’s home game was reversed to Fintown. The Glencar men meant business with Liam Doherty scoring direct from a free kick early on. Glencar doubled their lead when in form striker Conor Gibbons finished well from the edge of the box. Gibbons then turned provider for Glencar’s third passing for Graham Cullen to score. Eddie McLaughlin finished the game as a contest after netting Glencar’s fourth and final goal. Fintown pushed hard though towards the end and almost brought the score to 4-1 only for Glencar stopper Dominic Friel making a wonder save low to his right. Team performance from Fintown. Mark Graham, Graham Cullen and Conor Gibbons were best for Glencar Celtic. Referee: Maurice Lafferty
Strand Rovers 2 Mulroy Celtic 2
Strand welcomed Mulroy to Maghery on a glorious Winter’s day. Mulroy started sharp and always looked a threat when breaking forward. It took a while for Strand to get up to speed but once they did it was evenly fought up until ten minutes from half time when a throw-in from Mulroy wasn’t dealt with and Johnnie Friel pounced and tucked it away to leave it 1-0 at half time. For the second half Strand came out fighting like a home side should and it wasn’t long before Doalty Boyle struck the back of the net to equalise, Strand pushed on from there and had numerous chances. Strand took the lead with a superb goal from Brendan Glackin from distance. Mulroy came back to life and big Michael Sweeney pinned one to make it 2-2. The match was very open with play switching from end to end, a credit to both sides but it was to end in a draw when Ed Moore blew up what was a great game to start the second half of the season
Orchard F.C. 2 Drumbar F.C. 0
Orchard were made to fight all the way to claim victory over a much improved Drumbar F.C. The heavy pitch certainly didn’t help either side produce much free flowing football. In the 15th minute Orchard were awarded a penalty after Niall Bonner was brought down by the Drumbar keeper after a fine ball from Micheal Doherty. Doherty took the spot kick and was rather fortuitous to see his mishit penalty just about evade the keeper. Orchard doubled their lead just before half time when Doherty’s ball over the top was brilliantly controlled by Bonner who made no mistake with a calmly taken right foot finish to the bottom corner. Both teams cancelled each other out in the second half with very little by way of goalmouth action. Conor Mc Brearty did however come close when his curled effort came back off the crossbar. Two good battling team performances. Referee: Mick Lagan

Cappry Rovers Reserves 1 Erne Wanderers Reserves 1
The away side started the better against a young Cappry side. They pressed from the start looking for the opening goal but were unable to find a way through the Cappry defence from open play. The home team went close to scoring when Neil Patrick Mc Daid hit the crossbar from a tight angle. Erne did open the scoring when they scored direct from a free kick. The game remained 1-0 at half time. The home team started the second half much better and had Erne pushed deep into their own half. They came close to getting back level when Conor Laverty found Leo Gallagher with his cross but the Erne keeper made a fine save. Cappry were pressing to get back level but couldn’t find a way through the Erne defence. Erne were dangerous on the counter attack. With ten minutes to go Cappry finally got the goal they deserved when Kyle O’Meara finished well at the near post. Cappry pressed for a winner but couldn’t find one. Two decent team performances on the day. Referee: Dessie Mc Laughlin
Castlefin Celtic Reserves 5 St. Catherines Reserves 2
Castlefin Celtic Reserves got the New Year off to the perfect start with a convincing 5-2 home victory over St.Catherines Reserves on Saturday. The home side started off the brightest and were rewarded for their pressure when Keith Nelis stabbed home a Brian Dooher cross with 10 minutes played. The hosts began to dominate and doubled their advantage when a Simon Mc Menamin kick-out released Matthew O’ Rourke who squared to Nelis who tapped in after 34 minutes. In the second half the visitors started on the front foot and pulled a goal back when Daniel Keeney broke through and finished well after 49 minutes. In the 66th minute Castlefin increased their lead when a David Stewart through ball found Marcus Curran who raced through and slotted home. In the 70th minute Matthew O’ Rourke capitalised on an error in the visitors defence to tap home. O’ Rourke got his second goal when he converted a penalty after he was upended in the box. St Catherines pulled a goal back when David Mc Guinness poked to the net in the last minute. Best for Castlefin: Marcus Curran. Best for St Catherines: Shane O’ Gara. Referee : George Clinton
Glenree United Reserves 1 Keadue Rovers Reserves 4
This game was played in surprisingly good conditions. Keadue opened the scoring when wee Sean “yank” Boyle pounced on a defensive mix up and finished well to the bottom corner. Glenree found an equaliser after some poor defending from the home team as the ball found the net via a Keadue player. Keadue regained the lead and control when Daniel Bonner scored a fine header from a corner. Chris Greene also got on the scoresheet after a good header, also from a corner, found the net. Keadue were awarded a penalty after Ryan Greene was fouled in the area, he duly dispatched the penalty to make it 4-1 to Keadue and that’s how it finished. Good team performances from both sides.
Curragh Athletic Reserves 1 Donegal Town Reserves 2
In the early stages it was clear to see Christmas had taken its toll with both teams just lacking their touch. After 15 minutes however the game was well and truly on. High tempo and determined work by both teams ensured this was going to be a tight one. The visitors had good possession on the wings whilst the Curragh seemed stronger in the middle. A number of chances fell to both sides and the Donegal Town lads had the ball in the back of the net when a hooked ball found their centre forward who lobbed the outrushing Jason Woods but it was ruled offside. Curragh also had a couple of chances, Paddy Cassidy and Simon Canning both going close.
Curragh seemed sluggish coming out after the break and Donegal soon found themselves in the lead. Driving on from midfield Enwright’s fine strike found the net on 52minutes. Donegal Town went two up ten minutes later following a sustained piece of pressure from the Curragh. Simon Cromie had just been foiled by the Town keeper when on the counter attack good work by the Donegal wingers played in Liam Bustard. James Sweeney got the Curragh goal.
Glenea United Reserves 1 Drumoghill F.C. Reserves 0
Glenea Reserves continued their good league run with this hard earned victory over Drumoghill. With both sides feeling rusty after the break it took a while for the game to settle down with chances at a minimum. As the half progressed Glenea started to get on top and were rewarded on 25 minutes when, after Neil Mc Geever was fouled in the box, Padraig McGee converted the resultant penalty. Glenea pressed hard to double their advantage but were unable to add to their tally. In the 2nd half it was tight affair with neither side able to create any clear cut chances but as the half progressed it was the away side that looked likeliest to score with both John O’Kane and Liam O’Donnell being denied by good saves from Ciaran Boyce. Best for Glenea were Ciaran Boyce & Daniel Cannon, while Liam O’Donnell and John O’Kane were best for Drumoghill. Refere: Michael McFadden.

Kilmacrennan Celtic 2 Castlefin Celtic 2
Kilmacrennan Celtic entertained Castlefin Celtic on Sunday afternoon at the Errigal College Grounds. Prior to the game the sides lay eight places apart in the Premier Division table. It looked likely that the visitors were going to widen that gap as they raced into a two goal lead. Firstly JP Malley reacted sharply when Barry Tourish’s shot came back off the post. The frontman made no mistake from six yards with goalkeeper Jason Hegarty unable to prevent the goal. There was little Hegarty could do either fifteen minutes later when Malley swivelled and sent an inch perfect shot into the top corner from twenty yards out. Despite falling behind Kilmacrennan didn’t give in and pulled a goal back before the interval when Kieran Gorman scored. The second half was a closely fought affair with both teams having good spells and chances. Ryan Shields levelled the scores on seventy five minutes to claim a share of the spoils for the home side. Referee: James Malseed. Kilmacrennan produced a good team performance while Peter Bryson was outstanding for Castlefin.
