Starting to look back in late January the first chapter to the New Year was with a visit from Glamour model and Snapchat sensation “Chelsea Ferguson” who had millions of followers on her account before it was suspended. The 28th was buzzing in Voodoo Club with students from across the country to see the star.
The Letterkenny Entertainment Venue received the IMRO Best Live Music Venue in Ulster for the second time in two years on February 3rd, General Manager Philip Ward said “The award is for all the local musicians, bands and customers who make the Voodoo Lounge and Greenroom Live what it is week in week out”.
On February 13th, Valentines weekend the famous Greenroom Live Venue was transformed and re-invented into a chic, retro, modern, vintage venue named HOUSE Wine Bar & Tap Room, opening the door’s to a pneumonia response from Letterkenny. The little trendy bar has been an incredible success since opened, and continues to go strength to strength..
May Bank holiday arrived and with that so did two Belgium brother’s David & Stephen Dewaela, AKA “2 Many DJS”, who took the stage to entertain the full capacity venue, blending in underground dance tracks with golden oldies.. As the crowd begged for more the brother act stepped it up with “Yeah Techno!” which got the entire complex whipped up in a mini frenzy!!
X-Factor Judge and former Westlife Manager Louis Walsh took a trip to the party capital in the North West in late June, Crowds filled the venue to meet the well-known Mayo man and close colleague of Cherly Cole.
Through-out 2015, Voodoo has been a brilliant supporter of local charities and events, one in particular that would have touched everyone’s heart in one way or another was “Realy 4 Life”. On its 4th year running the event is a bigger success each year, the event helps celebrates cancer survivors, remember those who did not make it, and helps raise awareness and funds for cancer research.
Finner Fighters and Soldiers united together in July for a fundraiser boxing match to raise funds for little baby Caolan Melaugh who was diagnoised with an extremel rare form of Caancer. Voodoo helped the fighters by sponsoring popular Termon native Mark O Donnell against opponent Marc Mc Hugh.
Towards the end of the year, Voodoo Venue teamed up with Letterkenny Athletic Club to give people a chance to win their Christmas dinner with 5k Fun Run Turkey Trot, which turned out a great success.
HOUSE Wine Bar & Tap Room sent some magic up to the Children’s Hospital Letterkenny with a Christmas Hamper Raffle which was held 27th December and managed to raise €2000 for the ward.
On a personal note, Voodoo would like to wish our Bar Manager Sinead Devine the very best of luck as she leaves us after 5 fantastic years. New Year’s Eve was her last night and we would like to thank her for everything she has done for Voodoo..
Voodoo Venue will be celebrating a wonderful 10 years in business this March – with lots of surprizes and massive party celebrations in store for our “Golden Year”… WATCH THIS SPACE!!!
