The third Carrick Auction has raised a staggering €20,000 for three very worthy local charities.
Speaking on behalf of the committee Barry Campbell said the success of the Auction was down to the wonderful generosity of the people in the locality who donated so many items.
The funds were distributed to various charities but the main beneficiaries this year were Clara House Killybegs, Woodhill Resource Centre Ardara, Niall Mór N.S. Special Class, Carrick Day Care Centre and Carrick Autism group.
All of the groups mentioned will be in a position to buy equipment that they are in need of or materials necessary for the very specialised work that they do.
The members of the Carrick Auction Committee would like to thank the people who donated lambs (60 of them), the people who donated items for the night auction (100 items) and then all the people who so generously bought these items.
The committee would also like to thank Anna, Ellie, Noel and all the staff at the Sliabh Liag Bar, Ivan, Monica and Carolyn, our three Auctioneers Malachy, Clement and Declan and to Marie and all the people who sold cards, to Seamus Haughey for his photography to the Glencolmcille Agricultural Show for the use of their equipment and to Máire Cannon for facilitating the lamb auction and to Conal Diver for the lively start to the evening. The auction also received great support from the Killybegs and Ardara Communities.
